Founded in Pawtucket, RI, in 1936 as Cote & Lowrey, the agency’s name changed to Cote & Troy in 1964, becoming Troy & Pires in 1980, and continuing to grow into what is now known as Troy, Pires & Allen in 1990.

TPA has been serving the community for more than 70 years and moved to their current location at 376 Newport Avenue, East Providence in 2004. The agency offers a wide variety of personal and business insurance coverage through more than twenty five providers.

The five partners at TPA have more than 140 years of combined experience and knowledge in the industry.  Working together, Bill Allen, Antonio Pires, Andy Troy, Greg Troy, Peter Troy, and the rest of the team, will help you find the best solutions to your insurance needs.

William M. Allen

Specializing in Commercial Lines Insurance, Bill earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Providence College.  A Certified Insurance Counselor, Bill has 36 years of experience in the insurance industry, with 16 in underwriting and marketing for a regional insurance company, and the last 20 years as producer and manager for TPA.  Bill is active in the East Providence/Seekonk Rotary Club and is a former Rotarian of the Year, past president and a Paul Harris Fellow.   In addition, Bill is also an active board member of the East Providence area Chamber of Commerce, and past board member of the Pawtucket Country Club.

Bill and his wife Jan have one daughter, Kerri.

Tony Pires

Concentrating on Personal and Commercial Lines Insurance, Tony is a managing partner of TPA, and has more than 40 years of experience in the industry. Starting as an underwriter with the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, he joined the company in 1969. 

A former legislator, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1987, where he served for 16 years. During his tenure, Tony was also the Chair of the House Finance Committee from 1993-2002.

Actively involved with the Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island Board of Directors, he served on the Executive Committee and as its Chairman of Government Affairs. In addition, he has served on the board of directors of the Pawtucket Foundation, and the Pawtucket YMCA

Currently, he chairs the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society “Light the Night” event, and coaches a team in the Darlington National/ Cal Ripken Little League.
 
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Tony holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He and his wife, Margaret (Peggy) have been married 41 years and have 3 children: Tracey, Stacey, and Anthony, and 3 grandchildren: Dante, Jaret, and Chatham.

Andrew Troy

Andy’s areas of specialty include Commercial Lines, and Bonds.  A graduate of St Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, Andy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics/ Accounting from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.  Following graduation, Andy began working at Troy and Pires in 1985, becoming an owner on January 1, 2000.  An avid golfer, Andy is a member of the Bishop Feehan High School Scholarship Golf Outing Committee, and serves as Assistant Coach of the Seekonk Junior Golf League.  He is a member of the Pawtucket Country Club Pool Committee, and is Chair of the School Board at St. Margaret School in Rumford. 

Andy and his wife, Diane will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary in 2007.

Gregory Troy

Greg graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Insurance from the University of Rhode Island. He immediately joined the agency in 1977, becoming a partner in 1980. Greg has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has earned the designations of CLU, CIC, and AAI. 

Active in the community, Greg is a trustee of the Providence Performing Arts Center, and a Board member of the Boys & Girls Club of East Providence, the To Kolan Club, the URI Ram Athletic Association, and the Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island as well as the NFIB of RI Advisory Board.

Greg has coached both youth, high school and semi-pro football teams, and has volunteered as a Track & Field Official for Rhode Island’s Special Olympics for twenty years. 

He has one daughter, Julia, and lives in Smithfield.

Peter Troy
Peter is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Insurance.  He has more than 30 years of industry experience, concentrating on Commercial Lines Insurance. Peter joined the agency in 1976, and became a partner in 1980. 

He is a board member of the Pawtucket Armory Association, and a past board member of both Marathon House Inc, and the Pawtucket Country Club, where he is a Past Club Champion.  Peter received a legislative appointment to the Coastal Resource Management Council, and served between 1995-2001.

Peter and his wife, Mary, have 5 children, Stephen, Kristen, Erin, Rebecca, and Brad.
